GRAN KAZ GIVES THE ONCOLOGY UNIT A FRESH LOOK FOR THE NEW YEAR

In the presence of the CEO of the Health Care Agency, Dr. Danny Louange, Head of the Oncology Unit Dr. Johanna Rapanarilala, and other members of the Oncology Unit team at the Seychelles Hospital on Tuesday afternoon, Gran Kaz officially “handed over” the updated reception area of the Oncology Unit.

Amongst the items donated were: A sofa set for the reception area and treatment room, a reception desk, shoe racks for the patients to use and a couple of wheelchairs.

“As patrons of the oncology unit, we are always trying to facilitate the hard work that the team does in any way we can. Sometimes this is through the donation of equipment used for diagnosis purposes, other times it is by providing items that will increase the comfort levels of patients. Coming in for screening or checkups and updates, or as a loved one waiting for the patient whilst they get treatment can be very stressful and sometimes it’s something as simple as an airy comfortable waiting area that will help lower a person’s anxiety levels. So when the unit asked if we could help them replace some old and well-worn items of furniture, we were happy to do so.” Says PR and Communications Manager at Gran Kaz, Ms. Shama Amesbury

Dr. Louange thanked Gran Kaz for this generous donation, saying  it has been many years now that Gran Kaz has been a loyal and faithful partner of the Hospital, always lending support where and when needed.

“Gran Kaz has integrated into our team, not only offering us financial assistance, but having discussions with the team, to find out exactly what is needed, what gaps need to be filled and then procuring it for us. We are most grateful for everything they have done for us throughout the years and continue to do now”.

Dr. Rapanarilala also thanked Gran Kaz, saying that items like this help with patient comfort, helping to put them more at ease, which then makes it easier for the doctors and nurses to care for them and administer treatment.

“The mental state of the patient plays a big role in how well they respond to treatment. For our team, having patients feel relaxed and positive goes a long way.”

Gran Kaz is already in discussion with the Oncology Unit to see what screening equipment they are most in need of at the moment and there will be more donations to come this year.
