Stroke foundation

Gran Kaz continued its commitment to community well-being on Monday, January 6th, 2025, with a meaningful donation to the Seychelles Stroke Foundation. Held at Kenwyn House in Victoria, the donation to the foundation highlighted a shared commitment to promoting awareness and education about stroke prevention and early detection.

Strokes remain a leading cause of disability and death worldwide, yet many cases could be mitigated with timely recognition and response. The Seychelles Stroke Foundation’s mission to educate Seychellois about the early warning signs of a stroke, such as sudden weakness, confusion, and difficulty speaking, aligns seamlessly with Gran Kaz’s vision of fostering healthier, more informed communities.

A Partnership for Life-Saving Awareness

Gran Kaz Head of Operations, Jonathan Paul, commented:

"Our partnership with the Stroke Foundation is an important step toward creating a healthier community. Strokes can happen to anyone, but with the right awareness and swift action, lives can be saved. We are honoured to support the Foundation in their efforts to educate the public."

Raising Awareness for Early Detection and Treatment of Strokes

The foundation plays a critical role in promoting stroke prevention and supporting those affected by the condition. Their initiatives include public education campaigns, workshops on recognizing early signs of a stroke, and advocacy for better healthcare access for stroke patients. Gran Kaz’s donation will help them expand these programs and reach more people, ultimately contributing to a reduction in stroke-related disabilities and deaths in Seychelles.

PR Manager, Shama Amesbury, added:

"The sheer number of stroke cases locally is alarming, and with more and more young people suffering strokes, spreading information and awareness is critical. Detecting a stroke early and getting immediate medical attention is crucial in saving lives and improving recovery outcomes. We are proud to assist the Stroke Foundation in spreading this life-saving information and ensuring that more people know what to do in case of a stroke."

Empowering a Healthier Future

The Stroke Foundation plays an instrumental role in reducing the impact of strokes in Seychelles by advocating for prevention, early detection, and improved care for those affected. Gran Kaz’s support will help amplify these efforts, ensuring that their message reaches a wider audience and leaves a lasting impact on the community.

Newly appointed Chairperson of the Seychelles Stroke Foundation, Mr. Guillaume Woodcock, thanked Gran Kaz for the generous donation, assuring those present at the ceremony that the funds will be put to good use in the Foundation's ongoing efforts to improve stroke awareness and prevention. He emphasized that the support from Gran Kaz will significantly enhance their capacity to educate the public and provide essential resources to those at risk.

The “10 for 10” campaign continues to serve as a testament to Gran Kaz’s dedication to creating meaningful change across Seychelles. This partnership with the Stroke Foundation exemplifies the power of education and collaboration in addressing critical health challenges.
