Tropical 5

The golden sands of Beau Vallon Beach came alive on Saturday, 20th September, as cheers, music, and the crash of waves set the stage for an unforgettable day of rugby. Eight teams battled it out in this year’s edition of the Tropical 5’s Beach Rugby Tournament, with fans gathering along the shoreline to witness fast-paced matches, fierce rivalries, and plenty of community spirit.

Among the competitors were some familiar faces. Local favourites — the Shearwaters, the Pirates, the Sharks, the Seychelles Men’s team, the Marlins, and the Black Parrots — returned for the fourth year running, each determined to seize the coveted trophy. Joining them were two international teams: Dubai’s defending champions, Barrelhouse, back to protect their title, and newcomers from Moscow State University (MSU), Russia, who brought fresh energy and international flair to the competition.

The day was filled with drama and excitement, culminating in a nail-biting final between the Marlins and MSU. With both teams giving everything they had, it was the Marlins who triumphed, securing victory with a tight 3-2 scoreline and lifting the trophy to thunderous applause from the home crowd.
