The launch of the domestic rugby league marks a significant milestone for the sport in Seychelles, bringing together structured senior competition and a clearly defined youth development pathway under one unified framework. For Gran Kaz, this investment goes far beyond sponsorship—it is a deliberate effort to create long-term impact by supporting initiatives that build confidence, discipline, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles, particularly among young people.

The Adult League features four competitive teams—The Sharks, The Red Snappers, The Flying Foxes, and The Black Parrots—whose opening fixtures showcased strong energy, improved fitness, and growing tactical maturity. These performances reflect the steady progress rugby has made locally and the importance of sustained support at senior level.

What truly sets this league apart, however, is its integrated Schools League, which mirrors the adult competition structure. Students from Ecole Française, Pointe Larue School, Perseverance School, and Belonie School compete under the same team identities, creating a clear and aspirational pathway from school-level rugby to senior competition. This alignment strengthens participation, continuity, and the long-term sustainability of the sport.

The initiative is further reinforced by a Memorandum of Understanding between Seychelles Rugby and the Ministry of Education Seychelles, ensuring that rugby development within schools is structured, safe, and aligned with national education and safeguarding standards. Together, these partnerships demonstrate how sport can be a powerful tool for holistic youth development.

Through this SCR 150,000 investment, Gran Kaz hopes to contribute to more than just competitive success. The aim is to support environments where young people can thrive, communities can come together, and sport can continue to play a positive role in shaping future generations.

As the season unfolds, the Gran Kaz Rugby League stands as a strong example of what can be achieved when corporate responsibility, sporting leadership, and community vision align—laying the foundation for sustained growth, rising talent, and a stronger sporting culture in Seychelles.
